Loose Rhinestones for Jewelry Making & Wedding Dresses

Rhinestones with or without setting are one of the most versatile products that can be used in wide range of embellishments. We have many interesting styles in sew on rhinestone and in this blog we will explain them in details. So, that you can chose the best rhinestone for your design project.

Claw Rhinestones or Rhinestone with Setting: - These are basically glass or acrylic rhinestones without holes set up in a brass or iron metal holder. The Holder has holes at the bottom to sew on. Always buy Brass metal holders even if the price is high because the iron holder gets rust after sometime. The seller sometime put oil on iron holders. So, that the buyer can’t detect what it is by magnet test. So, always be careful about this.  All shapes like Round, Teardrop, Square, Rectangle, Marquise etc are available in rhinestones with holder.

At embroiderymaterial.com, we have very interesting holders that add up to the beauty of Crystal Rhinestones.

A. Rhinestones with ‘D’ Shape claw Setting: - Specially design claws for wedding dresses and lightweight fabrics dresses like organza, silk, etc. These are ‘D’ shape claws and don’t get stuck with the fabric. The holder also gives the pleasant looks to the crystals rhinestones.

B. Flower Shape Claw Setting: - One of the most beautiful claw design that we have. Use these rhinestones for jewelry making. So, that the beauty of the claw is truly appreciated.

C. Rhinestones with Sharp Legs Claw Setting; - This is the oldest traditional setting claws that has been used for rhinestones. These are the price friendly version from all the three styles.  Use these crystals in close spaces. So, that the catcher doesn’t entangle with fabric or any loose hanging.  For an applique work, you can use these rhinestones in setting.

Rhinestones with holes: - These are basically glass or acrylic stones with holes. You can buy one, two or more holes stones according to your requirement.

A.  Flat Back Rhinestones: - If you are buying rhinestones for clothing or dresses then make sure that you are buying flat back rhinestones. So, that there is no gap between the fabric and the bottom of the crystal after stitching. Flat back rhinestones sit very nicely on the fabric.

B. Point Back Rhinestones: - I personally feel that these rhinestones should be used for jewelry making like necklaces.  These doesn’t have flat bottom. So, it gives a very nice 3D effect when dangles on a body.

If you see these type of rhinestones without holes then that means these stones need to be put in holder first before you use them.

Hot Fix & Non hot fix Rhinestones: - You need a quick solution to enhance your design then these are your perfect friends.

A. Hot Fix Rhinestones: -  These are glass crystals and have glue on their flat backs. You keep these crystals on your design then apply heat over them.  Because of heat, the glue at the back melts and the crystal stick on usually any surface. Be careful about how much heat to apply. If you apply too much heat then the glue will spread and it will show around the crystals edges which doesn’t look nice. The most prominent hot fix crystals are Swarovski crystals. We also have Swarovski pearls also.

B. Glue on Rhinestone or Non Hot Fix Rhinestone: - As the name suggest, you can’t apply heat on these rhinestones. These have flat back and you apply glue separately on these rhinestones and then stick them on fabric surface. You can find fabric glue on any stationary shop.  These rhinestones are the cheapest from the whole lot.

Rhinestones Cup ChainsIts basically glass or acrylic rhinestones put in a chain of metal holders. You can use these cup chains for jewelry making and doing embroidery. We have many different design and size in them. We have 6SS(2MM), 12SS(3MM), 16SS(4MM), 18SS(4.2MM) and 24SS(5.2MM) size crystal chains. Always buy little extra then your requirement. So, that if any crystal comes out from the chain which you used in your design for any reason then you can take the crystal out from the extra chain and put it back on your design.

We hope with all the above details now you are confidant about what types of rhinestones you want use for your project. If you still have queries then please mail us at info@embroiderymaterial.com and we will get back to you immediately. Thank you for your time.
